Lake Alexandrina Outlet Creek Carpark

The Mackenzie District Council engaged Xyst to produce a Concept Diagram for the Lake Alexandrina Outlet Carpark, with the intent that this plan be used to facilitate discussions in the area. Key objectives of the plan were to formalise car parking spaces, reduce traffic speed, differentiate and isolate pedestrian areas. The plan also needed to protect the adjacent natural environment and create a safe space for birdlife, whilst enhancing other amenities in the area.

Xyst successfully completed the plan, the final design encompassing different traffic-calming measures, indicated parking bays and a turning circle to simplify and formalise the intent and usage of the space. Added vegetation and feature boulders in strategic locations limit vehicle movement, ensuring an enjoyable and safe environment for the campground guests, as well as protection for the natural setting and the nearby birdlife.

Project Benefit

Xyst completed a concept plan for the redesign of the carpark area close to Lake Alexandrina, to provide formal car-parking and reduce vehicle speed, and to protect the adjacent natural environment and bird habitat.
