My expertise
Following graduation from Otago University with a Bachelor of Physical Education, I started my career in a Sport Development role at Sport Canterbury. A move north to Auckland City Council included various sport and recreation planning, funding and delivery responsibilities.
In 2000 I returned ‘home’ to Christchurch and worked for Christchurch City Council for 15 years. The opportunity to re-shape a city included the early planning for the Nga Puna Wai Sports Hub and the Hagley Oval Cricket facility. Much of my grey hair however came from the central role I had in planning and delivery of Christchurch’s role in hosting major sports tournaments including FIFA, Rugby World Cup and Cricket World Cup tournaments through to 2015.
A return to Sport Canterbury for a temporary contract included delivery of Spaces and Places Plans for Greater Christchurch and South Canterbury.
A move to consultancy in 2019 has enabled me to work all over New Zealand on some amazing projects and with some fantastic people. I have completed feasibility studies for aquatic centres, indoor sports facilities, community facilities and even velodromes. Planning projects include many sports hub master plans and spaces and places plans for Councils, RSO’s and Sports Trusts. I have also helped organisations with financial and structure reviews and delivered a number of sports event feasibility studies.
